SIERRA PROPERTIES

Brent Whitley

VP Land development

Brent Whitley joined Sierra Properties in 2005 as Vice President of Land Development. Whitley has worked closely with Bob Sierra, Chairman of Sierra Properties, for over 40 years. Whitley spent his early business career developing golf course communities. Beginning in 1973 on a construction site, which became Cypresswood Golf and Country Club, he started a post-collegiate education in understanding the relationship of man’s recreational pastime with a responsible care for nature.

Over the next five years, he was involved in all aspects of the industry, including development of the golf course and residential community, the construction process, and extensive maintenance programs. In 1977 Whitley joined Bob Sierra’s team at Sico, Inc. Together, Sierra and Whitley developed three communities in Tampa, including Avila Golf and Country Club, which became their model development. With responsibilities that ranged from construction management to permitting as well as overseeing the overall maintenance of the project, Whitley gathered experience in making communities the best that they can be.

Whitley became the Development Coordinator for the Tampa Palms Development Corporation in 1986 where he was responsible for the management of all landscape designs and site construction field operations. Tampa Palms is one of the largest and most successful communities in the Tampa Bay region and has won numerous awards for master design and environmental stewardship.

Also, during 1984 Whitley formed Land Design Services, Inc. which became a full services landscape design and construction firm specializing in providing valuable expertise and services to golf course developers throughout central and south Florida. Some of the major projects that Land Design participated in from design to implementation are Tampa Palms, Lehigh Acres, Eaglebrooke Golf and Country Club, Lone Palm Golf Club and The Groves Golf and Country Club.

In 1999, Whitley and Bob Sierra once again teamed up to begin planning new opportunities. This pairing, along with other Sierra Family members, led to the successful and exciting Cypress Creek Town Center in Wesley Chapel, a project which continues to evolve.

Whitley attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee and the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. Whitley and his wife Kristine are proud parents of one son, Joey, and reside in Brooksville, Florida.
